Karen’s design expertise ranges from corporate communications to packaging & covers the gamut in between. Karen has a rare talent for being able to combine creative work with well-honed management skills. Perhaps Karen’s greatest gift is that she is a master at delivering numerous design alternatives for a single problem – at the speed of light, with both grace & ease.
Karen founded TaCito Design in 1985 & is now Creative Director & Principal in Charge of branding. Her exceptional eye for aesthetics, sense of color & flair with typography continue to be the foundations for successful, memorable designs generated by TaCito Design. There is a wonderfully integrated quality to Karen’s forward-thinking solutions where her style is both sophisticated & playful.
Throughout her career, Karen has enjoyed mentoring and advising graduating students from Colorado State University, Metro State College & Platt College San Diego.
Karen earned her BFA in Graphic Design at Colorado State University. Subsequently, she was invited to participate in the CSU post-graduate study abroad in the then-Soviet Union. Upon her return, she continued her studies at the School of Visual Arts in New York, working with the legendary designer, Milton Glaser.
Karen is a fine artist as well. Drawing from her design background, Karen uses complimentary color, gestural strokes & layered shapes to create vibrant abstract paintings. Karen enjoys painting as the ultimate expression of her creativity. Visit TaCito Fine Art to see some of her paintings.
Bob joined TaCito Design as Principal in 1993 & is Principal in Charge of Wayfinding & Signage Design. The strength of his design solutions lies in an unwavering commitment to simplicity of form, legibility & aesthetics that complement the project environment while engaging the user. He is expert in his understanding of signage materials & fabrication processes, enabling him to deliver value with every project.
Bob is expert in signage & wayfinding solutions as well as Comprehensive Sign Plans for multi-use projects, park systems, retail/restaurant projects, hotels, office buildings, health care facilities, libraries, parking garages & urban identity programs.
Bob serves on the Denver Public Art Committee. He is also a curriculum advisor to Cherry Creek Schools Career & Technical Education department & to Platt College San Diego.
Bob earned his BFA in Industrial Design at The University of Kansas with a minor in Graphic Design, Human Factors & Design Methods.
